Blue Velvet And Metallic Paint ~ Bench Redo

Oopsy, I forgot to take a before picture of this little bench.  It was brown with a needlepoint design on the seat and brown material on the arms.  Let's just say it needed a little love.  Enter blue velvet fabric, Teal Steal Blue metallic paint, and nailhead trim.

In progress

I found the mother load of metallic paint options here

 All done

I am loving velvet and all things metallic at the minute.  I have quite a few before and after projects to post.  I've been a busy little bee.  These will be short posts.  Not a lotta chit-chat, ya know what I'm saying.  Straight to the goods.

  3. Another lovely makeover. The blue is so sexy! I sincerely love EVERYTHING you do. A quick question.... Do you have any tips on using the metallic paints from the site linked above? I'm ready to order but I've read horrid reviews of MS Living's metallic paint line at Home Depot from improper guidance from staff to horrendous streaks left in the paint. I've got seven chairs I want to paint silver. Or should I just opt to silver leaf them? Thanks and please keep up the good work. BTW: Everyone loves our stencilled hallway. I too am addicted to R&B! Thanks again.

    1. Thanks! I LOVE the blue too. I just recovered a second piece in the same blue velvet and love it too!! Sexy is a good word.
As far as the metallic paint... I have only used the teal steel blue at this point. I did try it on the wall and it was streaky (would need several coats), but on furniture... two coats and it is beautiful. I did a couple other pieces, like a coffee table, and chair and both turned out great as well. As far as silver... I haven't tried it from that line so I don't know... but I am working on a post comparing silver finishes, Rub n' Buff and spray paint.. it should be up in a day or so, maybe hang tight for that to see what you think before you take the purchase plunge. Hope that helps! : )
